Konstantin Grcic is a designer we keep being drawn back to… We’ve blogged about him several times. These chairs are part of the Traffic seating Collection for Italian design brand Magis. They are inspired by iconic forms and obtain beautiful harmony between industrial and refined artistic sensibilities.
Here Grcic revisits the famous chaise longue B306 by Le Corbusier, Jeanneret and Perriand. “The correlation between the three-dimensional line drawing of the metal rod and the geometric lines of the cushions marks a significant shift from the common connotation of wire furniture” says Grcic.
Konstantin Grcic – Panorama is an exhibition currently on view at Vitra Design Museum. It explores his career and work as well as his vision of interiors of the future. This retrospective exhibition narrates the role of design in our times, looking both at the past and the future. Click on the exhibition name to see all the details and more photos.
The exhibition DEFINI FINI INFINI (click on name for exhibition link) has opened at the Mamo in Marseilles. It is the result of the meeting of the artists Ora Ito and Daniel Buren and consists of 7 monumental works on the roof terrace which play with dimensions, perspective, light and the environment. Buren’s black and white columns (1985-86) in Palais Royale in Paris are spectacular and a familiar and much-loved sight to Parisians.
Spotted this week…..
We wanted to share with you this stunning table by Hans Wegner we spotted this week. Dating from circa 1953, it was produced in oak and brass by Andr. Tuck. We love the smooth and lyrical lines of the base.
